April L. Neihsl is Of Counsel to the firm, having joined in 2007 as an Associate for Julie I. Fershtman, also Of Counsel to the firm. She concentrates her law practice in the areas of Insurance Defense, General Litigation, and Equine Law.
Ms. Neihsl attended Wayne State University Law School, graduating cum laude in 2006. She served on the Wayne Law Review as Assistant Editor from 2004-2005 and Senior Articles Editor from 2005-2006. As a law student, she distinguished herself by graduating in the top 15% of her class and earning the Silver Key Certificate.
Ms. Neihsl received a Bachelor of Science, with High Honors, from Michigan State University in 2003, with a major in Animal Science. Her academic background and her nearly life-long involvement with horses bring considerable depth and experience to the Equine Law component of her law practice. While at Michigan State, Ms. Neihsl was on the Animal Welfare Judging Team and placed first individually in the Intercollegiate Animal Welfare Judging Competition. She was also selected to present research at 2002 North American Meeting of the International Society for Applied Ethology and co-authored an article published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Neihsl held internships in the Wayne County Circuit Court and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Oakland County Bar Association.
