Julie I. Fershtman concentrates her law practice in the areas of general insurance defense, insurance coverage, business litigation, premises liability, and sporting and recreational liability. She has achieved positive results for her clients who range from major insurance companies and businesses to individuals. In addition, Ms. Fershtman is widely considered to be one of the nation's leading developers of and experts in the equine law field.

She has achieved numerous courtroom victories for her clients on a variety of legal matters, and has tried and won cases before juries in three states. She has also been specially admitted to practice before courts in eight states as co-counsel.

Ms. Fershtman is Treasurer of the State Bar of Michigan, she also serves as Vice-Chair of a committee of the American Bar Association Tort, Trial & Insurance Practice Section and as Trustee of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. She is currently Secretary of the Oakland County Bar Association.

Her professional distinctions include being selected as one of Southeast Michigan's most influential women in 2007 by Crain's Detroit Business and one of "21 Young Lawyers Leading Us into the 21st Century" by the American Bar Association's Barrister Magazine in 1995. In 1996, Crain's Detroit Business named her one of "40 Outstanding Business Leaders Under 40." She received the Oakland County Bar Association's "Professionalism Award" in 2000, making her the youngest recipient ever to receive this award.

Ms. Fershtman is a frequent author and speaker on a variety of legal issues and topics. She has written over 180 published articles and is the author of two books on legal issues. In addition, she has lectured at seminars, conventions, universities, and continuing education conferences in 23 states.

Ms. Fershtman is a 1983 graduate of Emory College, earning two bachelors degrees, and a 1986 graduate of Emory Law School. She is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Michigan as well as the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.
