Emily M. Ballenberger specializes in civil litigation, including commercial litigation and insurance defense. Her practice focuses on the defense of complex tort litigation, medical malpractice claims, and professional negligence cases. Prior to joining Zausmer, Kaufman, August, Caldwell & Tayler, P.C., she was a member of a Michigan-based civil defense law firm where she gained extensive litigation experience in medical malpractice, municipal law, and employment matters.

Ms. Ballenberger frequently lectures to the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA) and other physician assistant groups all over Michigan. She received the Golden Gavel Award from the Michigan Trial Defense Counsel in 2009.

Ms. Ballenberger received her J.D. from Wayne State University in 2004 and her B.A. from James Madison College, Michigan State University in 2001. She has been admitted to the State Bar of Michigan, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, and Tribal Court.

Ms. Ballenberger currently serves as the Vice-Chair of Wayne State University's Journal of Law and Society's Alumni Committee, and she is also the Chair of the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit's (MOCAD) New Wave, which is an innovative auxiliary group of young professionals who are dedicated to furthering MOCAD's Mission.
