Darwin L. Burke, Jr. joined Zausmer, Kaufman, August, Caldwell & Tayler, P.C. in 2006. He focuses his practice on defense of first-party no-fault claims. During his enrollment at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Mr. Burke interned with various trial and appellate judges at the state and federal level. Upon graduation, Mr. Burke worked as a research attorney with the State of Michigan Court of Appeals where his responsibilities included screening civil and criminal appeals, identifying and researching issues before the Court, and recommending possible outcomes to the panels of judges hearing the cases. After three years of work at the Court of Appeals, Mr. Burke worked at a small firm where his practice required handling personal injury litigation including first-party no-fault, automobile negligence, workers' compensation, premises liability and general negligence. This work involved managing all aspects of litigation from screening cases for intake up to trial, as well as briefing and arguing at the Court of Appeals. Mr. Burke's diverse experiences both during law school and in the years of work that followed have greatly aided in his work at Zausmer, Kaufman, August, Caldwell & Tayler, P.C.

Mr. Burke is a 1996 honors graduate from Michigan State University where he majored in criminal justice. In 2001, he obtained his juris doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he was a scholarship recipient.
